Big Heart, long time love

Big Heart, long time love is artist Merlin Nova’s second EP. This three-track EP expands on the choral quality of bonus track A Joyful Heart from Nova’s “creepy, funny and all-out terrifying” (The Wire) debut album BOO! Rhythmic vocals pulse and repetitive lyrics drive the pieces forward. Nova is joined by Pike (In Tongues, heka) who plays drum kit on the opening track ‘truth&love&hope&love’ in which Nova’s mantric vocals gradually evolve from a conversational tone to an energetic embodiment of the lyrics. Breath, heartbeat, groans and sighs, so much remains unspoken in these three tracks but at the heart of them all is love, love, love.
